IT’S SPOOKY — AND SAFE. IT’S HALLOWEEN AT THE YMCA
(Elkins,
WV October 21, 2006) – The Elkins/Randolph County YMCA is offering an evening
of fun for little goblins and their families to enjoy in an environment that’s
both caring and safe. This year’s Halloween at the YMCA event will take
place on Friday, October 27th from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. and will
coincide with events planned by the downtown merchants of the City of Elkins.
Events scheduled at the YMCA include a carnival and haunted house. The carnival will feature face-painting by volunteers from the Randolph County Community Arts Center and traditional carnival games with prizes and candy. Children can also register to participate in a Halloween costume competition that will take place between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Costumes will be judged in the following categories: best overall costume, funniest costume, and scariest costume.
“We’re excited to have a number of community organizations take part in the event this year,” said event organizer Cyndee Dilly. “Randolph County Community Educational Outreach Service, the Jennings Randolph PTO, and the Jr. Women’s Club of Elkins are among the groups that will help run activities at the carnival and have made donations of decorations and candy for the event. We are also grateful to our sponsors Davis Memorial Hospital, All Seasons Real Estate Service and Dairy Queen for their help in making the event possible.”
“Halloween at the YMCA will deliver enough treats and spooky fun to delight children of every age, in the safe and caring, family atmosphere that characterizes our Y,” said Sid Gillispie, executive director at the YMCA. “So come to Halloween at the Elkins YMCA where there’s not a ghost of a chance that you’ll be disappointed!”
